Recently, After being nominated by the members of Asian Association for Language Assessment (AALA) and voted by all members, Professor Gu Xiangdong ofthe School of Foreign Languagesand Cultures has been successfully elected as a member of the AALA Nomination Committee from 2022 to 2024. A total of four language testing researchers in Asia were elected this time.

Professor Gu has been devoted to the research and development of language testing since 2001, and enjoys a high academic reputation and influence in the field of language testing at home and abroad. Following her appointment as a senior academic research consultant in the University of Cambridge’s English Assessment Department in 2012, this election is another breakthrough for Professor Gu. Professor Gu said that she would continue to tell the "scholarly story" of language testing in China and Asia, and contribute to the research, personnel training and sustainable development of language testing in China and Asia.

Asian Association for Language Assessment, established in 2014, aims to promote the development of language testing and assessment in Asia. The main members are researchers in the field of language testing in Asia (including current MA and PhD students).
