The 2019 China Smart Expo was held at the Chongqing International Expo Center from August 26th to 29th. It is is an annual grand science and technology exhibition in Chongqing, officially approved by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Chinese Association for Science and Technology and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government. The School of Foreign Languages of Chongqing University has contributed a lot to its success with the purpose of encouraging volunteerism and supporting public welfare.
A total of 27 students from the School of Foreign Languages participated as volunteers in the volunteer work of the Smart China Expo, including 9 undergraduates and 18 postgraduates. After several days of professional training, the students worked diligently in different positions and successfully completed the volunteer service.
In this service event, 17 students served as the event service volunteers for the Intel FPGA Intelligent Innovation Global Competition, and the 2019 'Smart China Expo Cup' Youth big data Intelligent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. According to the requirements, the students regulated the course of the competition, recorded the data of the competition, and provided services for the participants, so as to ensure the large-scale events would go on wheel. In addition, a total of 8 students served as volunteers for the foreign affairs group. They took advantage of their foreign language to provide translation and guidance for foreign friends coming to the exhibition. At the same time, they introduced Chinese science and technology to foreign friends and made them feel comfortable and pleasant in this exhibition. Besides, several students, under the guidance of staff, as volunteers in other positions, dealt with unexpected situations to ensure the order of the exhibition.
Duan Wenjing, a postgraduate student majoring in foreign language and literature who participated in this voluntary service, said that: "I have been deeply impressed by this voluntary service at the Smart China Expo, which is unforgettable. One phrase can express my felling, that is , worth it! In this summer, I helped the development of the Smart China Expo with sweat, witnessed the greatness of Chongqing, and knew the prosperity of the motherland and Chongqing. As a volunteer, in spite of hardships, the growth and the harvest tells me that it is really worth it! Beautiful Expo, excellent volunteerism! ”
The students from School of Foreign Languages and Cultures of Chongqing University participated actively and prepared fully. Finally, they successfully completed the volunteer service work of the Smart China Expo, fully reflecting their good spirit. Focusing on high-tech and the frontier of intelligence is also the outstanding vision that every CQUer should have. It is ntelligentization that empowers the economy and luster the life. In the future, the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures of Chongqing University will continue to help the public welfare, focus to the frontiers of science and technology, and train more outstanding talents with good quality for the country.
